Art into Words...
The inspiration for my work branches from many different
locations, but I commonly find that most are firmly rooted within the field of
women's studies. This broad field has given me the opportunity to explore the
many complexities that make women unique entities. From the simplicity and
classic beauty found in the human form, to the dark and taboo sides of
sexuality, my work flows raw and uncensored. I use many tools to voice my
viewpoints, my favorites being humor and the controversial. I work with a wide
range of media, specializing in fibers. I feel proud and honored to continue
the traditionally feminine trade of sewing and garment making. While connecting
me to my foremothers, my strong background in these skills has allowed me to
venture on and explore the unconventional. I have freed my mind from the
limitations of fabrics and allowed myself to dive into the unknown. I continue
to experiment with new materials, pushing the boundaries of their physical
properties and forcing myself to question reality.
